Now that the weather is getting a little bit better, we are looking to spend more time outside. But what activities are there in Toulouse and surrounding areas? Here are some ideas for you.
Nature
Forêt de Bouconne
The “Forêt de Bouconne” is located around 25 km west of Toulouse and is the largest forest in the Toulouse area. It hosts a leisure centre and outdoor recreation areas. There are many different paths for walkers, mountain bikers as well as horse riders. It is the perfect spot to get out of the city and be in nature.
Fruit Picking
What better than picking fruits and vegetables on our own and experiencing where our food comes from? There are several farms around Toulouse, which offer this kind of activity. For example Cueillette Lavernose (around 30 min. from Toulouse), la Cueillette de fruits rouges (located in Labége), Midi Cueillette (around 15 min. from Toulouse ) or Les Jardins de St Sernin (around 30 min. from Toulouse).
Animals
Ferme Pédagogique de Cinquante
The Ferme Pédagogique de Cinquante is located in Ramonville-Saint-Agne, so around 20-30 minutes from Toulouse city. They have all kinds of animals there. There is also a really nice parc next to the farm, which is perfect for a picnic or just to relax after your visit.
Zoo African Safari
The Zoo African Safari is in Plaisance du Touch. The visit consists of two parts: first, you drive with your car through the “safari” and see all kind of different animals (zebras, elephants, etc.). Secondly, you park your car and do the rest of the parc walking. There are many more animals to explore. They even have a small pets corner as well as a playground and a picnic area.
Château de Berges
This educational farm is located in Odars (around 20 km from Toulouse) and offers many different activities for children. They have a petting zoo and organize all kinds of events for children during the holidays.
ZouZou Parc
ZouZou Parc is located in Verfeil (around 25 km from Toulouse) and is a petting zoo. They also have a trampoline, bouncy castles, slides, swings, etc. there. Check their Facebook page to get a better idea.
Amusement Parcs
Animaparc
Animaparc is a family friendly theme parc located in Le Burgaud (approx. one hour drive from Toulouse). In the parc they have different rides, a dinosaur parc and even a small petting zoo. The perfect destination for a fun day with the family!
Pyrénées Hô
If you are looking for some more excitement, Pyrénées Hó is the place to go! The have a ropes course, zip lines and a free jump along with other activities such as canyoning (the latter being quite refreshing on a hot summer’s day, but some courses are not for the faint of heart). It’s about 1h30 away from Toulouse, but you can spend the night there in a teepee if you feel adventurous.
Tépacap
This adventure park is around 45min from Toulouse centre and offers activities for all ages, the first one’s for 3 year olds. Tree climbing is great there, also for adults. You have a huge flying fox and tracks for all levels. Take your picnic with you, as you can spend the full day there in the woods. Great fun!
